The following national events will happen in 2023 within the Midwest Region:

Sometime in July West Virginia will host a combined USATF Masters-Open-Youth meet while Youth qualify for the Regionals (it will be the district meet for the Youth). Total numbers were not high for this meet in 2022, so it will not be a long meet for Masters.
Of interest to Masters Athletes: Bill Murray says that the USATF Masters games committee is under contract to the National Senior Games to run their national championship in July 2023 in Pittsburgh. He is doing a site visit in Pittsburgh on the 6th and 7th of October to look at three sites that they are considering. The track portion will most likely be at a high school with some of the field events. Some of the long throws will be at another site. The Track and Field starts with practice on July 9 and competition July 10-14. The 10 K is July 7 and the 5K will be July 9. Powerwalking and Racewalking will be July 8 (1500) and 9 (5K). The Triathlon will be held on July 18.
NSGA: NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES
The 2021 Senior Games were held in 2022 May 10 to May 23 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Normally the games are held every other year, and athletes must qualify in their events the year prior to a national meet at a state meet. The 2023 meet will be in Pittsburgh July 9-14. The WV Senior Sports Classic (WVSSC) was held in WV July 23. Results may be found in KVTFOA.NET. This meet was to qualify athletes for the 2023 Senior Games. The first 4 in each event qualified.

2022 Indoor Championship
The WMA Masters Indoor Championship will be held March 26-April 1 in Torun, Poland. The link to register may be found at https://wmaci2023.com/. The registration deadline is January 31. 2022 Outdoor Championship
The WMA Masters outdoor Championship was held June 29 – July 10, 2022 for athletes aged 35 and over in Tampere, Finland. Information may be found here: https://wmatampere2022.com/.
2022 USATF Outdoor Masters Championships
The Outdoor USATF Masters Championships held in Lexington, Kentucky at the end of July had the largest turnout (1253 athletes entered) of any Masters Outdoor Championships since the 2010 meet in Sacramento, California.
2022 State and Regional Meets
USATF, AAU and several other organizations organize meets throughout the year. Local and regional meets for masters may be found on USATF.org, on AAUsports.org, and on the USATF Masters site at https://usatfmasters.org/. The AAU has begun to run masters-only meets in the last few years. Hun Tasman Senior Games in Utah every October is a very papular meet for senior athletes. There are also several new series of meets which have begun in the last 10 years.
What are Masters Track and Field Athletes?
USATF Track and Field events for Masters (see the parent organization website https://www.usatf.org/) include ages 35-100+ and sub masters of ages 30-34 are welcome to participate. There are local (Association), Regional and National Track and Field Meets including some specifically for throwing events or combined events. Indoor and Outdoor T&F Meets are held. Results may be found in mastersrankings.com and National Masters News, which also has the All American Standards and many interesting articles. Participation in and support of these two organizations is strongly encouraged.
2020 Qualifying State Meets for 2021 National Senior Games
The National Senior Games Association organizes meets in each state (here the West Virginia Senior Sports Classic, or WVSSC, is the state meet in the NSGA series) and holds National Senior Games every other Year. This was in Albuquerque, NM in mid-June for 2019. The next National NSGA meet will be held in November, 2021 in Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Since many states are cancelling their State Games which qualify participants for the NSGA Games in 2021, qualification rules have been changed to allow those with no opportunity to qualify to compete. See the NSGA site for the Covid-19 Rules for this event here.
Other Meets
There are also other Track and Field organizations who organize meets, including the State Games of America, and the Huntsman Senior Games. These meets were cancelled for 2020. This site will post upcoming meet and other information of interest to WV Masters and encourage contributions from those interested in Masters Running, T&F, and Racewalking. Contributions may be event listings, News about events, pictures and other information or articles which would interest other athletes.
